Sterling Milfoil Removal, A New Division of Sterling Marine

Seattle, WA (March 16, 2013) – Sterling Marine Services has opened a division of Sterling Marine to provide aquatic weed control services to the Pacific Northwest. Sterling Milfoil Removal (SMR) will provide aquatic weed control services. Leading this division is Susan Hines-Elzinga, a managing member of Sterling Marine Services. She is excited to grow this part of the business and introduce a new line of products to the Pacific Northwest to help with noxious weeds.

SMR has become the West Coast distributor for Aquascreen Bottom Barriers. Aquascreen is a PVC coated fiber woven into a mesh style mat. It stops sunlight from feeding the growth of the invasive weeds while allowing microorganisms and gasses to move from sediment to water.

Our other services include herbicidal treatments, mechanical harvesting, mapping, and research services. We offer the residential markets with packages specifically designed to remove and maintain un wanted growth.

Sterling Marine Welcomes Windworks Sailing to the Family

Seattle, WA (March 13th, 2013) – Sterling Marine, an innovative underwater service provider, welcomes Windworks Sailing Center to the SMS family. Sterling Marine is now responsible for the inspection and upkeep of the charter companies growing fleet of 23 vessels. As a charter fleet these vessels see a lot of use making it paramount to have them inspected for both damage and general wear, which could cause down time if not addressed.

Windworks Sailing Center is a fantastic local sailing club offering everything from sailing lessons to long distance cruising. There boats range from 20 feet to 49 feet giving you a wide variety of performance and efficiency to choose from.

Sterling Marine is excited to be taking care of the Windworks’ fleet. This step is part of a larger campaign that Sterling Marine launched in January which involves packages and programs for larger fleets and groups. Similar programs are being released for private racing sailboats and cruisers.

Sterling Marine Expands Again

Max-Prop Training Completed

Sterling Marine’s Operations team completed their Max-Prop training course at PYI Inc this week. PYI Inc. is a local company that imports the Max-Prop propellors from Italy. Our team members received training in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all the Max-Prop models.

Sterling Marine Welcomes MOHAI To SLU

After multiple years of planning and construction, MOHAI has finally opened its doors to the public. The newly renovated museum has incorporated both Seattle history and global in their exhibits. After its opening on December 29th, they have had more than 20,000 visitors which is approximately a third of their average yearly visits. Exhibits currently displayed include “Waterways to the World” which highlights artifacts dating as far back as the WWII era.

The opening of this museum also marks a milestone for surrounding organizations such as the Center for Wooden Boats. As a small non-profit, the increased foot traffic will improve their number of visitors.

As a proud supporter of The Center for Wooden Boats and MOHAI, as well as a contractor on the Lake Union Park construction project, we are excited to see these organizations thrive and hope to be a part of their legacy.

Sterling Marine Hires John Guillote

Sterling Marine Services announces the addition of John Guillote as Director of Business Development to our management team. Guillote brings both creative ideas and more than 12 years of marketing experience to our team. He will be a valuable asset to Sterling Marine as we enter new markets and build the company.

“John’s experience as a CEO and business founder, as well as his vast knowledge of the maritime industry provide him with the skills he needs to lead our marketing team. We are very excited to see what we can do in 2013,” says Sterling Hines-Elzinga, Founder and President.

Guillote will assist the SMS management team with creating, maintaining, and distributing marketing material. His knowledge of operating a service oriented business will also allow him to participate in improving the efficiency and safety of our day to day operations.

Guillote has degrees in both marketing and environmental science from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Nathan Raible-Clark named Dive Operations Manager

Sterling Marine announced on November 1st 2012 that Nathan Raible-Clark will become SMS’s Dive Operations Manager. As a long time Project Manager at Sterling Marine he is familiar with the company’s policies and future goals. As the company grows in the upcoming years Nathan will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our divers as well as the general safety on job sites.

Nathan’s experience as a commercial diver and his education at the Divers Institute of Technology is essential as the company grows into new markets and increases the number of projects being undertaken. His innovative ideas will allow us to provide services in a cost effective manner as well as increase the safety awareness on our team.

More Than $1000 raised for Pink Boat

Sterling Marine raised almost $1500 dollars for Pink Boat at Whidbey Island Race Week. Pink Boat is a 501(c)3 non profit organization with the goal is to raise $1 million for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Further, it is our hope this victory will spill over and help in the prevention and cure of other forms of cancer.

With the help of the Sailors and the Sterling Marine team we raised almost $1500 which will support Pink Boat and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Sterling Marine announces new location

Sterling Marine announces their new location to open on June 1st, 2012. The new location will house our administrative staff as well as our work shop and warehouse spaces. The new location features more than 2,000 square feet of warehouse/shop space, multiple offices, 1,000 square feet of outside storage space, water access, and parking.

The larger space will allow us to store more equipment and more employees as we grow in the coming years.
